I'm just curious to which one people prefer (even if you despise them both), both closing songs were mostly panned by the fans, but if you had to choose, which one would you pick?

I think I'm leaning towards Lucid Dreams, but it's not saying much. I dig the instrumental probably that's why now. I didn't like On a Roll when Mosaic dropped, except maybe the bridge idk. It did have some ok parts. But Nick is more cringe worthy in LD, except I'm ok with the course. I guess it's almost 50/50 idk.

OAR has more band interplay in general - SA's bits in OAR are great, and I enjoy miT's pickin' and grinnin'

Better to rip off Queen than Shaggy.

Haha, I been saying that too, since Evolver! SS was our last rocker closer 20 damn years ago. We're due for a closer to rock out to. I agree 100%

LD has a solid instrumental, I'd be willing to bet that song was already in some stage of production before Feldy did his thing. OAR, despite actually being a recording of the band, has that dumb Imagine Dragons percussion break that hurts my ears and my soul to listen to. LD wins here.

    OAR solely for SA.

OAR is oddly maligned. I dig it, the soccer-chant, Tim's guitar, better lyrics, more upbeat. Better all around imho

On a Roll resembles the 311 band playing actual music, whereas Lucid Dreams does not. Lucid Dreams’ chorus is uplifting, whereas On a Roll’s is uber-lame.

Lucid Dreams’ little solo is so nice, but the Shaggy-Nick vocals sucks.

I can’t pinpoint anything particularly redeeming about On a Roll, but also nothing as objectionable as Shaggy-Nick.

    I am vexed.

Edit: I voted for On a Roll. At least it's 311 playing a (lame) song together instead of Nick jerking off in Feldmann's studio for his outside pop songwriting team.

I hate Lucid Dreams. Nick sounds like an idiot.

I don't mind On a Roll. It's got that anthem celebration thing going for it.

LD because the chorus, in my opinion, is great (including vocals). I am of the opinion Feldmann had very little to do with it.

The "sometimes sunshine is made of knives" part (middle eight section in Lucid Dreams) should've been saved for a much better song.

But Mosaic closes with Syntax Error and Voyager closes with Charge It Up...? (Please don’t take me away from my fantasy world)

In seriousness, they’re both in a very similar spot for me. Both are mixed feelings and are middle of the road, or below average for 311 standards, but both also have this tease about them meaning I want to like the song more, but just can’t. Like Born to Live is definitely meh to me, and I don’t really have a desire to like it or listen to it more, but for whatever reason I want to like On a Roll and Lucid Dreams more than I do. Maybe it’s because they’re closers?

I suppose I feel this to a greater degree with Lucid Dreams, so I’ll go with that.

I've always really liked On a Roll, I never understood the fan reaction to it at all. I know it's a Feldman song but it's catchy and the lyrics are very 311 and fit as an album finisher. I feel like if the song was exactly the same but Feldman's name wasn't on it the fans would have liked it.

Lucid Dreams...eh. I can listen to it but it's easily worse than On a Roll to me.

What singing voice do you think Nick uses to sing his daughters to sleep?

The one he uses in Lucid Dreams, I God damn guarantee it.

I hate them both, but, OAR is way less offensive. There's some stuff I like instrumentally about OAR, but it's bogged down by millennial whoop iPod commercial bullshit formula.

That didn't stop me from getting it tramp-stamp-tattooed with a terrible font/color selection.

How long until someone reposts a pic of "Some times sonshines is maid of nives" tattooed around a sun clip art with knife rays on a crazy fan?
