But yeah, he’s pretty shortsighted about it. There HAS to be a gray area between cold hard reality and empathy and a lot of people are getting mixed up. It is a fact that many people have a victim or loser mentality that keeps them from accepting personal responsibility but it’s also a fact that some people are put into situations based on unfortunate circumstance that literally could have happened to anyone and unfortunately very few are willing to potentially admit fault with their worldview.
Yep, I agree with both. On a broader scale, if you do not like your job then you are free to seek other employment or see if you are able to continue education to open up other opportunities. But in times where unemployment is up due to businesses shutting down, laying people off, etc. it's just not as realistic to think you can just leave your job. And again, back to the point just for this specific thing we're talking about, maybe if the corporations thought just a LITTLE more about their employees that make them, people would be more happy to stay there working.
Wow. Such an enlightening and interesting position on the state of things in the country. Thank you for sharing.
Yeah I understand, I’ve been singing a different tune ever since I had such a hard time getting out of retail because despite the skills I had, I didn’t have a fucking piece of paper saying I had those skills. If that makes any sense.
Yes, that is worse. BUT life isn't some sort of unprecedented terrible that never occurred before Trump. That's the point. Life sucked (in a different way) 2000-2008. It wasn't better. The comment of "life was easier and better" in 2000-2008 is the only thing I am disputing. This is what @Ldlife isn't getting. He says "it is worse because people more openly hate each other" I am saying. Yes, but they still hated each other back then. PLUS economic and terrorism and violent crime were hirer. In the 90s Gang violence was extreme. I am saying on top of that there was a collapse in the stock market (people lost their entire life savings right before time to retire), we were at war (BASED BOGUS LIES), and the housing market crashed - which directly effected multiple industries NOT just home owners. Unemployment was higher than today EVEN with COVID shutdown. So, yes. I couldn't get online and yell at at GOP delusionals, BUT, they still hated every liberal and were very vocal about that hate within their social circle. However - having the social separation doesn't mean LIFE WAS BETTER.
So you're telling me that if people keep their hateful shit to themselves that doesn't make other peoples lives better? Umm...sorry I disagree with that Actually I think you could get online and yell at GOP people. I remember them aol chat rooms got pretty heated at times lol in fact I remember people getting on Yahoo and openly talking shit all the time
I remember there being a few random occurances. I have no desire to find, but Y2K had everybody all up in arms and I remember some militia type survivalists patrolling streets. Hate groups grew 54% from 2000-2008.
And that’s my issue with people like the guy who commented .. I’d bet they’d be singing a different fucking tune if they were put in certain predicament such as living paycheck to paycheck, no savings, children to take care of, unemployment system failing or delayed. I highly doubt they’d think they have a choice!
That isn't what I am saying. READ WHAT I WROTE I am saying that there are things that were occurring in 2000-2008 that aren't an issue now. That life was hard for DIFFERNT REASONS.
All I’m really saying is that life isn’t that simple and I just want the quality of life to improve in America. Desperately.
Totally makes sense. I've actually pretty much been "stuck" in my field basically because of the experience I've had from when I just needed a job starting back in college. Thankfully, I've at least wound up at a good company and I've been able to advance and have a good work/life balance and so I take that as a "win" even though if I were to go back in time I would absolutely pick a different major and career path. Not that I still can't.
First thing i’ll say when he’s dying of cancer with no health insurance ... “Just get a job”. Point proven.
I don't know. I think America's heyday is over and will never return. We are 11th in the developed world for quality of life and dropping fast. BECAUSE unlike the rest of the world, our leaders can't compromise. They haven't been able to do that since the 80s. The 20% on the polar ends of political ideals controls influence in the country. The 1% owns the government and wealth. The rest of us are stuck in the tug of war when really most of us agree on most topics.
@Ldlife even during Obama there were problems that made quality of life difficult. We haven't had a "calm seas" life in American history. We have always had fucked up problems.
If Trump really thought fraud was occurring, why is Rudy Tug-a-liani leading the march? Wouldn’t you want to employ the most elite election lawyers there is to offer? bEcAUse thErE iS NO FrauD
