You know I have never read your quote tree on him - because I understood the gist from chatting with him. BUT WOW! Oh so much Picarding - My hand is permanently stuck to face.
Maybe mass violence was the wrong term. You're probably right about that and I'll admit that some of the videos I've seen are from news sources on youtube which I might've not seen back in the early 2000's because it didn't exist. I could be wrong but I dont remember massive racial division to where it led to people lots of people getting hurt over it in the early 2000s. Of course its always been there. But I dont remember trucks plowing through crowds of protesters, people arming themselves up in trucks driving around inciting violence upon others. Teenagers getting ridiculed on national tv for what was seen as them mocking natives at the time. I dont remember cities going through months long protests and being shot by police. I dont remember the government sending armed forces to sacred native land to get rid of people protesting the pipeline. Morons walking up and down the streets armed with assault rifles in case of a protest coming to their town or just because they can. I dont remember old people sitting in a restaurant getting their plates smashed and getting hit and on and on. I'll give one personal experience. I was driving to the store to get some groceries and many people were dressed up in military clothing with assault rifles self policing the town because they were scared of protesters. I couldn't even go in the store as there were about 30 cops protecting it and not letting anyone in.
Well less than a decade before Bush took office there were riots, columbine, the OJ trial, etc. I mean this is definitely a watershed moment in history but this reckoning has been brewing.
Yes, just because you don't remember doesn't mean it isn't there or even at a higher level now. @Ldlife How old were you in 2000-2008?
Lol I'm a prick? How ironic. Dont vet your panties all bunched up. I read your quote over and over, cause I have to. I do this from a phone so I can't see it all at once. I did not claim the country didn't have violence. It does matter who did 9/11, cause I'm talking about people of this country getting along with each other. Not outside people who hate us. How is that hard for you to grasp? Yes I remember people hating on Muslims very well. It was terrible, I cant imagine what that would've been like after 9/11. I am buying into nothing. Like I said IMO, which means "In My Opinion" people got along better before Trump's administration. They still hated each other but they didnt voice it like it is being done today. Here's anecdotal stuff for you. Living in one of the most racially divided cities still to this day, people were getting along. From all walks of life, hanging out, having cookouts. Now people won't talk to each other. People are not friends anymore. People are disowning family members. No more hellos or goodmornings to their neighbor if they have a different opinion. Its "fuck you, I hate you. Gtfo" attitudes. And that shit wasn't happening as widespread as it is now
Yeah I agree with that and remember all of it as well. The coverage of OJ was probably the first reality show. Everyone's parents were glued to the TV when that was going on The RK riots mainly stayed in LA if I'm not mistaken. Im not discrediting or saying there wasn't violence or hate before. I'm just saying it wasn't so widespread and I dont think Bush amplified it the way Trump has. Obama definitely didn't. Today everyone is so quick to cancel someone else or hurt them in real life, rather than hear them out if they disagree
Oh really? Yes, there was MASSIVE ERUPTIONS OF VIOLENCE. Which is what I showed you with my list in violence that occurred. 2000-2008 WAS NOT A BETTER TIME. It was different, but the problems were still there – PLUS THE STOCK MARKET CRASHED, WE WERE AT WAR, AND THE HOUSING MARKET COLLAPSED. Fuck, there is no time were your perceived “easier life in America” occurred. Violent Crime was extremely hirer in the early 2000s. Mass shootings were frequent. Hate groups/crime were on the rise. I get that you may not have seen this because social media wasn’t around as much, but it was there. People DID NOT get along – there just wasn’t a platform to argue to the degree we do now. There was also a social code you didn’t say whatever the fuck hateful shit popped into your brain. That is the only difference. I am not sure how that can mean “life was better” then and you are not defending your opinion in any way. So, hate and violent murders don’t count if Americans aren’t the ones doing it… gotcha. I grasp you saying that violence from outside forces doesn’t count – but again. The pilots were living in US for I believe 8 years before 9/11. Not really “OUTSIDE” forces – more the organization they had loyalty to was international.
AND THERE IT IS. You were a kid. It isn't uncommon for your view of the time to be rose colored. (I was an adult having my first child during OJ trial)
Dont get too married to this thinking. We ignored things for so long in the country/world and it’s coming back to bite us. Ebb and Flow.
