I understand what is being said here. But I would assume most people would ditch the shitty leak and listen to the better quality stream once it's released. But then again, some people seem to enjoy the 128 transcode.

This has definitely crossed my mind since the leak. The majority of listens will be happening over the next couple weeks and will do no good for pushing this album up any charts, etc. Not great.

Very true, and it wouldn’t be an issue I think if the album came out it’s original date. But having leaked 3 weeks early means the band loses out on 3 weeks of streaming, which granted may not add up to a whole lot, but it could hurt them. Good point though, I’m glad this isn’t a totally foreign thought.

If it was just me I wouldn’t, but I doubt my wife wants her pic plastered on the BB for you MCs to see. So if being afraid of the wrath of your wife makes you a pussy, I’m pretty sure we have a bunch of pussies on here.

Absolutely. Our silver lining is actually that we tried to keep it in-house where the vast majority of us have pre-ordered already, so our community wouldn’t do hardly any damage compared to say the Farmers.

Yeah, except the guitars in their discography as a whole are anything but monotonous.

Agree. Loved the snippet of this from the update. Couldn’t wait for this song. Then at first listen, I thought nick ruined the song. Now, I completely vibe with it.

I don’t love nicks singing, but it has grown a lot.

There's good points on both sides. If your friend is more comfortable doing it this way. There's certainly nothing wrong with his approach. You can't enjoy an album when being uncomfortable with how you're listening to it. The 3 week leak was excessive, but 311 will be fine with royalties and sales. Although, those 3 weeks of streams could have helped pay the Noisestorm bill!

So, just another album observation that I have not seen from others but am SURE everyone will agree with due to this being a total consensus, massive group think board...

Born to Live is the most "European rock" song I recall 311 making. I don't want to think through each and every song to test that theory, but I recall Nick saying in an interview how 311's record companies said their music had too much "California" etc in the style to have crossover appeal in England. Born to Live has a more more British rock beat than most 311 songs. A bit of a modern Brit rock sound but then again also a bit of Bloodhound Gang American sound in the rap style. Prove me wrong.

There's too much going on in it and why wouldn't you use your LEAD GUITARIST to do the solo. I'm happy for Nick flexing his new guitar chops, but there's a reason Mit is in the band and it ain't to look pretty.

HAH Bloodhound Gang...that's it. I could not fucking figure out why it sounded so familiar. The constant boppy beat with distorted guitars and the way they rap over it is totally Bloodhound Gang. Jimmy Pop is a GENIUS!

Is it not as bad as I thought it was the first time I listened, or does chad save this? Because somehow it works very well now.
