Maybe you’ve answered this before, but how did you first get into Japanese rock bands? They are some great musicians for sure, just seems a bit niche to not have a good story.

Babymetal. I heard Babymetal a long time ago and I went on Youtube to check out some more of their music. Youtube started recommending all of these Japanese bands and I found a lot of good stuff. I needed good music that bands in the U.S. weren't delivering. Babymetal opened that door to a scene of fantastic music. Now that's all I really listen to and spend tons of money on. So, I and bands from Japan owe Babymetal a huge thank you for opening that up. Even though their last album sucked.

Before you came across Babymetal, what were you into?

Their song Karate was the theme song for WWE PPV back in 2016.

Pretty much what I listened to growing up and for the most part have outgrown.

    Metallica
    Pantera
    Guns N' Roses
    Slayer
    311
    Phunk Junkeez
    NoFX
    Fun Lovin' Criminals
    Reel Big Fish
    Goldfinger
    2 Skinnee J's
    Nirvana
    Kid N' Play
    Das EFX

    Shit like that

Edit: The only U.S. band I somewhat liked that's come out in the past 20 years is Streetlight Manifesto.

What is your favorite WWE entrance music?

Ah yes, good shit. A couple of those groups in there I don't really care for, but mostly I'm into all that.

Fun fact - WWE entrance music is a big reason for why I make the music I do nowadays. The idea of creating music specifically for a character always gave me a woodie.

Well, I would say the song 3 Minute Warning used because it was 2 Skinnee J's - 3 Minutes. Purely WWE music, Stone Cold, it makes me feel like a badass. Even more so than what Tomato-Kun is now! And Bayley's original song, because it's Bayley!

I've grown out of some of that music. Mostly Goldfinger because it's childish High School shit and Feldy producing garbage for 311 didn't help. You got some good stuff going, Marge. Keep at it.

I will not stand for slander of Goldfinger first 2 albums. They will forever be heavy in my rotation and are solid front to back albums, some of the greatest from the punk/ska genre.

Fuck Feldman forever, but even he cant ruin those 2 albums for me.

    Thanks dude!

And yeah, the "growing out" of some music is something I'm very familiar. Hell, even a band like Sugar Ray you've ripped on me for is one I'd say I've definitely grown out of MOSTLY, but in the rare times I will go ahead and revisit some old classics or hear something randomly I can still dig it in the moment.

Are Korean bands good enough? This band, Mid-Air Thief, and their most recent album called 'Crumbling' has become one of my favorite albums of the past couple years. It's beautiful stuff.

On Sugar Ray: 14:59 is legitimately good and probably calibrated my musical tastes because it was so diverse stylistically.

Don't get me wrong. If you were a hot Japanese girl. Your music would be so much better. You know what Tomato-Kun is talking about.

Yes they do! They just dropped a new single today. Looks like they may drop a new album soon. That would be 3 albums released since January 2020.

You're right man, I'll work on becoming a hot Japanese girl to further gain support, you know, because that's ALL that matters to you ;)
