Unpopular opinion I’m sure but MK (recent games) is too graphic for me now. I don’t let the kids play violent games, obviously, so it’s just not in the cards. While the old ones were graphic...I don’t know, there was some charm to it...and no HD, pixelation ftw
How my parents let me play those games growing up is beyond me…either my mother didn’t know or she feigned ignorance and couldn’t be bothered. Likely the latter. I do remember her forbidding me to watch the film (I was 7-8 when it came out) and I eventually inevitably watched it a friends. This was of course after I had seen all sorts of R Rated films at our next door neighbours who routinely watched us during the day.
Man I'm the youngest of 4 in my family, so I think by the time I came around my parents sort of gave up on making sure I'm not watching violent things, listening to explicit music, etc. Which I actually really appreciate because they didn't make a big deal out of shit like that as long as I was basically behaving myself.
Hey me too! And yeah my mother made a feeble attempt when I was young. When at the same time my dad was stashing his playboy mags for me to find at the age of 8, getting an unlocked satellite dish card from his work that unlocked every single channel including all the porn channels for my 10 year old self to watch. Not to mention all of the friends I was around that swore like sailors and made every attempt to get me to smoke, drink and do drugs. By the time I was in like middle school, my parents basically stopped trying and I more or less had to learn for myself what I should and shouldn't be doing. It's a wonder I didn't do any of those things. That's my ~*RPL*~ for the month.
hahah, nice RPL. Honestly, I was a good kid and didn't give them any reason to worry about that shit. I think they accepted that I either saw or heard things I shouldn't from my brothers or at my friends' houses and shit like that. I recall one time my mom said something like "As long as you're not into child or animal stuff then it's ok". They were good parents too so it's not like I was left to my own devices, I think they just trusted that I wasn't going to listen to Dr. Dre and then go bust a cap on someone.
Did anyone else have Mortal Kombat VHS on repeat growing up. And by that I mean you watched and rewound it enough times that when it played in front of a room full of my drunken college friends in 2005 and it started spewing tape that it felt like your best friend died?
I finally watched The Dirt, that Motley Crue movie this weekend. I'd been hearing it's enjoyable for a long time and glad I finally watched it.
No but that happened with my copies of the original Star Wars trilogy...unedited off of HBO. That fucking killed me. Even had the awesome 80’s HBO intro’s omfg waaaaaaaaaaaaah
Bottle Rocket. For Wes Anderson’s debut film, I thought it was quite good. Wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Proves just how promising of a filmmaker he was destined to be. Very much looking forward to seeing his new film this year. I love all of his stuff.
The Invisible Man — thriller, sci-fi starring Elizabeth Moss (Handmaid’s Tale). It’s a 2020 release free on Prime Video. Entertaining and suspenseful.
I thought that movie was worth watching and it was good, but not great. I remember watching it and wanting more actual scenes with the invisible man than we got.
That’s how we felt, good and entertaining, but not in the great rewatch category. I agree there could have been a couple of more invisible man taunting her scenes.
Holy fucking badass! https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/n...nounces-district-10-sequel-script-in-progress This movie is going to be amazing.
ONE NIGHT IN MIAMI IS THE BEST NEW FILM I'VE SEEN THIS YEAR. I STILL HAVE A BUNCH MORE MOVIES ON YE OLDE LIST BUT THIS FELT LIKE A LOCK ON AT LEAST 3 OSCAR CATEGORIES FOR ME. THE SCENE IN WHICH MALCOM X RECOLLECTS SEEING A SAM COOKE SHOW... SO DAMN GOOD.
