so, I've had an original Mu-Tron III from the 70's I got off eBay for about $375 15 years ago... it sounds amazing but it's a pain in the ass because of its weird power supply and it's an old beat up fragile pedal that I don't want to abuse anymore than it has been over he last 40ish years of its life. This new Micro-Tron III pedal that's been out for about a year is supposed to be just as good.. a faithful recreation designed and sold by the original creator of the Mu-tron III and the Q-tron...even Tim Mahoney is using the new Micro-tron III It's smaller, easy 9V power... pedal board friendly... So I finally ordered one.. guess what.. doesn't even come close to the original.. I am really surprised Tim is playing one of these on his board... it is significantly lacking. I'll admit if you are plucking single notes it is identical... but when you jam some clean chords on it you can notice a huge difference that it is not up to par with the original... in fact my Möbius is 10x better and far closer than the original. Sand dollars sounds awful on it. In case any of you guitar players are wondering.. stick to a q-tron or a mobius... or else go for the real thing... the Micro-Tron III is extremely over rated.. it's so bad I'm thinking I might even have a bunk one since so many people swear by it. The switch pops. Wtf? ........ I'm selling it. You've been warned!
