I believe nothing was better than the cardboard box, toto snare sound from Transistor... Thoughts?
I picked transistor... only because soundsystem wasnt an option...
I was lucky to be able to go to the Hive in November...the band was not there, but Chad's kit was setup and in recording mode. He was using a remo falam marching snare head again
I think Transistor had the better songs but I like the drum sound the best on the blue album
Transistor for sure. I think DTOM had a good drum sound too. It poped a lot.
How did you manage to get in? Just curious...
Ski mask and a pair of lockpicks.
No but really, I was just lucky to be invited by a friend who had to deliver something to the Hive. I tagged along and was able to get a tour.
Chad's snare these days = fire. 5x14 Pearl Sensitone Steel Snare
That is really cool man... who gave you the tour?
It was close between Blue and Transistor for me, but ultimately I went with Transistor.
I'm not even on the poll damnit!
Honestly, Blue through Soundsystem is all the best shit. I went with Blue though, that's where that classic Sexton sound really took form and blossomed.
I will agree with Blue - Soundsystem...can't really recall the exact sound on FC off the top of my head, but I feel like it was pretty close to the same. I also liked his snare sound on DTOM.
I voted Transistor, but actually possibly Blue. I love the pop to it on that one.
Transistor's drum sound is overrated. I voted for From Chaos, but I'd really say Evolver, even though it's not on the list. That album has incredible drum sounds.
The Lemming era. Whatever day they recorded that song, they perfected Chad's drum sound.
Things I don't like about Blue: bass drum is way too quiet, and cymbals sound choked. Otherwise, I agree Blue and Transistor are the two best. His drum sound has been crap for at least a decade at this point.
